About the journal

Founded by the International Association of French-Speaking Sociologists (AISLF), the journal SociologieS promotes the sharing of ideas and openness to the diversity of theoretical currents and methodological perspectives in the social sciences. As a general sociology journal, it aims to give a voice to the variety of French-speaking sociologies and to disseminate sociological knowledge and research, both past and recent, to the entire international French-speaking scientific community and to civil society as part of the dialogue between the social sciences and society in general. Its operation meets the criteria of leading scientific journals (double-blind peer review by qualified experts) and its independence is based on the adoption of a ‘diamond’ model of open access (free of charge for authors and readers). Its content is thus freely and immediately accessible online. Composed of sections, it publishes articles grouped into issues three times a year. It is supported by the French National Centre for Scientific Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences and is listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). It is produced in editorial association with the Maison des sciences humaines et sociales Paris Nord. It is also one of the partners of the International Academy of Scientific Francophonie of the Agence universitaire pour la francophonie, particularly within the framework of the ‘Publications and Promotion of Scientific Francophonie’ cluster.

The journal is based at the AISLF at the University of Toulouse Jean Jaurès. It is managed in accordance with the French law of 1901 on associations. Subsidies and revenues are managed by the association's treasurer.

SociologieS has financial resources from:

  • An annual subsidy from the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences of the French National Centre for Scientific Research;

  • An annual subsidy from the Cantonal and University Library of Lausanne;

  • Royalties from OpenEdition's Fremium programme.
