Editorial process: from submission to publication
المخطط
أعلى الصفحةSubmission of articles and notes
All manuscripts submitted to the journal must be sent by email (text in a .doc/.docx file AND in a pdf file; + figures if there are some) to the following address: syria@cnrs.fr.
The editorial committee of Syria meets twice per year, in late Spring and late Fall, but submissions are accepted and treated all the year around
Evaluation of manuscripts
The journal’s directors examine the manuscript and gives a first opinion pertaining to its relevance for an eventual publication (especially its compliance to the journal’s editorial policies).
The article is proposed to two experts chosen by the editor-in-chief, among members of the editorial committee and external international researchers. The journal applies a single-blind peer-reviewing process.
The evaluation criteria are based upon the scientific quality and the originality of the manuscript, and the fact it has not been published elsewhere. The experts are provided with an evaluation form focusing on the shape and the content of the manuscript, which is completed by a free-standing, motivated report.
A synthesis of the experts’ reports (anonymous except request of the experts) is sent to the authors with the editor-in-chief’s decision: publication of the article can be declined, accepted (with or without minor modifications) or been subjected to major modifications and re-submission.
Articles are inscribed in the editorial process by order of arrival of their final approved version.
The final approval of the manuscript is subject to the respect of the requests for modification forwarded by the editor, of the authors’ instructions published in the website and the requested deadlines.
Preparation of manuscripts
The editorial preparation includes two phases of validation:
Validation of the contents
The text is structured and prepared (orthographic and typographic proofing, checking of the internal coherence). This step, which can sometimes include several exchanges between the editorial team and the authors, is the only one when the text can be amended in any way.
Pdf proofs are sent to the authors, with only minimal laying-out. This results in the final validation of the contents (article, captions, number and order of the figures).
Validation of the laying-out
Final proofs are then sent to validate the laying-out of the article (place and size of figures, etc.). No modification of the text is possible at this stage.
