In the following lines, we will briefly report on an archaeological experiment in the field of ancient Greek bronze sculpture – an experiment oriented not strictly towards the recovery of ancient metallurgical processes, but rather towards the recovery of the external appearance of the sculpture. The project, which is part of 40 years of research on Greek sculptural polychromy, aims above all to contribute to a discussion on the issue of polychromy of ancient Greek bronze sculpture, as well as on the question of interpretation. With this in mind, not only the results of scientific research on ancient bronze sculptures, which have been compiled by various research teams worldwide in recent decades, but also the relevant written sources have been taken into account.
