Editorial policy

Mission

The mission of Téoros - revue de recherche en tourisme/ journal of tourism research is to contribute to the development and dissemination of the scientific study of tourism from a multidisciplinary perspective by positioning itself as a research leader in the French-speaking world. Founded in 1982, this open access journal appears twice a year, publishing texts in French and English.

Language

Téoros defines itself as a French-language scientific journal. It also publishes texts in English, but only if the author does not master the French language.

Téoros encourages the use of inclusive language, i.e. a choice of neutral terms to counter the dominant effect of the masculine. For a better understanding of the general principles and rules, please refer to the linguistic troubleshooting bank of the Office québécois de la langue française.1

Readership

Téoros is a scientific journal aimed at a specialized audience. However, the free accessibility of the journal allows it to reach a worldwide audience thanks to its online distribution. It is therefore important for the authors to propose in-depth texts in an accessible and contextualized language.

Text proposal

Téoros publishes research papers, reviews, and essays. In all cases, manuscripts must be original, i.e., not previously published.

All texts published in Téoros must, however, demonstrate a structured reflection supported by the appropriate material (scientific literature and research methodology). In this sense, texts must meet the rules of the art of publication in a scholarly journal.

Anonymous peer review

All manuscripts received by the journal are first assessed by the editorial board for originality and compliance with the criteria for writing a scientific article. If accepted, the manuscripts are then evaluated anonymously. Each article is appraised by two specialists in the subject matter. The Téoros management team ensures the anonymity of the author of the manuscript and the peers responsible for the evaluation.

A peer-reviewed manuscript receives one of four recommendations:

Accepted for publication without change
Accepted for publication with minor changes
Accepted for publication with major changes
Refusal to publish

Reports graded b, c, and d are accompanied by appropriate justifications, including recommendations for correcting weaknesses in the text.

When the two reviewers' reports do not agree, the editorial board and editors may request a third review. They also act as mediators to ensure that manuscripts are evaluated with rigour and empathy.

Second submission of a rejected manuscript

A rejected manuscript may be resubmitted to the journal. The author must wait six months and demonstrate that the manuscript has been substantially modified. The editorial board reserves the right not to re-evaluate a text.

Authors whose manuscripts are conditionally accepted for publication must make the necessary changes to their manuscript and submit a one-page explanation to the editor noting all changes made. Corrections must also be visible in the text. At this stage, the document must be formatted according to the manuscript submission rules.2

Corrections are validated by the editorial board and one of the two evaluators of the text. Authors may be asked for clarifications or corrections.

Once the corrections are approved, the manuscript is sent for linguistic revision. The collaboration of the authors is also necessary at this stage of the preparation of the publication.

The publisher undertakes to have the final proofs approved. However, no major changes can be made at this point in time.

Copyright

In compliance with copyright laws, the authors of manuscripts submitted to Téoros agree to declare all sources from which they have drawn information, both directly and indirectly.

Authors must obtain the rights to reproduce any work or illustration used in their article.

Authors whose manuscripts are approved for publication in Téoros must sign a form in which they assign their rights of distribution and reproduction to Téoros. These will be published under the CC BY-NC-ND license.

At the request of the authors, Téoros may agree to the reproduction of an article in another publication. However, permission must be sought from the journal to do so under very specific conditions and with clear reference to the original publication in Téoros.

The CC BY-NC-ND license allows authors to deposit the publication in an institutional repository or to share it via scientific social networks such as Academia or ResearchGate. However, the full reference must be presented along with the link to the OpenEdition page where the article is published.

Archiving

The journal is archived via the Portico service (https://www.portico.org/) offered by the Érudit platform (https://www.erudit.org/fr/).

The opinions and conclusions expressed in the pages of Téoros remain the sole responsibility of the authors and are not necessarily endorsed by the editorial board of the journal.
