1Three maps show the concentration of second homes, tourism flows and jobs in Brazil.
2Map 1 shows the distribution of private dwellings for occasional use across the country. Firstly, the spatial concentration of this type of accommodation along the coast is striking, particularly along the coasts of the South, South-East and North-East regions. On the other hand, there is also a greater concentration in localities close to metropolitan areas such as Porto Alegre, Florianópolis, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, for example.
3In 55 municipalities, flats were the predominant type of accommodation for this occasional use. In some coastal municipalities, the vast majority of occasional homes were flats: Balneário Camboriú (Santa Catarina) (94.4%), Santos (São Paulo) (94.1%), Itapema (Santa Catarina) (90.5%), São Vicente (São Paulo) (87.1%), Guarujá (São Paulo) (80.3%).

Map 2 shows the relationship between territorial inequality and air traffic flows in the country, with a clear historical concentration of these flows between the South-East, South and North-East regions. To understand this relationship between air traffic and tourism, it is important to remember that more than half of Brazil's population lives in the South and South-East regions (nearly 115 million people), which are also the country's main sources of tourists: if we add the North-East region, we have the part of the Brazilian territory where mass tourism, in its various forms and facets, is predominant.

- 2 Consolidation of labour law.
4Map 3 is based on a cartographic anamorphosis of Brazilian States, distorted according to the balance of tourism jobs in 2023, according to CAGED1 2023. It should be noted that this is a monthly register of employees hired and fired under the CLT2 regime, so the map refers to the balance between dismissals and admissions at the end of 2023. Across Brazil, the balance was +104 708. Once again, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais appear with the largest positive balances: 34,000, 12,000 and 11,000 respectively, with the food sector accounting for over 60% of all jobs. At the other end of the scale are Acre, Amapá and Roraima, with less than 500 jobs generated between them. No State had a negative balance in 2023
